Bryan Schwartzman is Communications Associate at Reconstructionist Rabbinical College. Previously he was the manager of marketing and communications for the Evans Consulting Group, a firm that helps nonprofit organizations meet their strategic and fundraising goals. Beginning his career in journalism, he was a reporter for the Jewish Exponent, where he covered a wide range of topics, and reported for several weekly newspapers in Queens, N.Y., covering everything from fires and murders to a Sikh sporting event and an attempt by a determined heifer to escape her fate at a Halal slaughterhouse and run through the streets of Astoria. Bryan has also been nominated for the Pushcart Prize for fiction. He has long been interested in the confluence and potential conflict of Jewish and universal concerns and believes in the power of words and stories. A product of the New York City public schools, and the son of a public school teacher, he holds a Masters degree in modern Jewish studies from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America and a Bachelor's degree in English and Journalism from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He lives in Philadelphia with his wife, Amy, and daughters Maya and Juliana.
