Dan Muroff

Dan Muroff is President of JSPAN.  He is an attorney and government relations advocate in private practice, where he has primarily led efforts to advance the missions of both charitable and arts-and-cultural institutions.

Dan spent four years in the environmental industry prior to entering government and politics. Dan served as staff in various Congressional offices in Washington before becoming senior legislative assistant to Congressman Jim McGovern (MA-03) where he led appropriations, transportation, economic development, and environmental efforts. Dan was named Chief of Staff to then newly-elected Congressman Michael Capuano (MA-08), establishing the Congressman’s Washington office and where he served for four years. During that time, he oversaw operations, legislation, appropriations, media, whip duties, personnel, and office budget.

Dan left Washington to support campaigns in Pennsylvania, including for US Congressional candidate Dan Wofford (PA-06) and as political director for US Senate candidate Joe Hoeffel (D-PA). He went on to work as senior counsel in the Pennsylvania State Senate and continues to closely aid and advise many Pennsylvania candidates for federal, state, and local government.

Dan has served as the president of the board of CeaseFirePA, Pennsylvania’s statewide gun violence prevention organization. He also served as president of Conservation Voters of Pennsylvania, promoting sound and sustainable environmental policy. When living in Philadelphia, Dan served on the board and as president of his community organization, East Mt. Airy Neighbors, as well as on the board and Treasurer of his community development corporation, Mt. Airy USA. He served as a Democratic committee person for 14 years and as Philadelphia’s 9th Ward Democratic leader. Dan currently serves as the First Vice Chair of the Delaware County Democratic Committee and as a Democratic Committee person in Marple Township.

Dan is a graduate of Drexel University with honors. He earned his Juris Doctor at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law and is admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar.

Dan lives in Marple Township with his wife Melissa and their dog Luca.
